KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) today urged Yayasan Hadhari Imanee to disclose their source of income which they claimed amounted to USD20 billion (RM81.6 billion).

This was to prove that they were capable of providing funds to members of the public, particularly entrepreneurs, as claimed by the foundation.

The foundation, which was set up last year, had promised to give RM300,000 to those who had registered with them, via a fund known as “Dana Pilihan Raya.”

Those who were interested to apply for the fund only needed to provide a copy of the registrar of companies certificate, the business registration certificate and a Bank Simpanan Nasional account number.

PPIM lead activist Datuk Nadzim Johan said upon receiving complaints from consumers, the association called the foundation representatives a few months ago to explain their operation.

“When they met with us, they were seeking our support to endorse their fund. But when we asked on their source of income, they claimed they had USD20 trillion (RM81.6 trillion) which earned from forex investment based in Hong Kong with USD6 trillion a week.

“Hence we asked for evidence to proof their source of income, but thus far, they have yet to respond,” he told a press conference at PPIM office today.

Meanwhile, PPIM legal bureau chairman Datuk Hishamuddin Hashim said he had received thousands of inquiries over the validity of Dana Pilihan Raya.

“Although we say the funds are dubious, many do not believe us and still ‘apply’ for the fund.

“More than 300,000 people including those in Sabah and Sarawak have been affected.

“The foundation promised to pay half of the RM300,000 before 14th General Election (GE) and another half after GE, but from what we understood, none of the applicants received the money,” he said.

Hishamuddin said member of the public should be vigilant and not fall for such an offer, and should lodge a police report if they felt they were duped by the foundation.

“Yesterday, representatives of the foundation came to us again. Among them were those we had met during the first meeting, and claimed they were also victims.

“They claimed that some irresponsible party had abused the name of the foundation and they planned to set up a new foundation.

“We told them that if the foundation was abused, attend today’s press conference to clear their name, but they are absent,” he said.

He also urged police to investigate the fund to prevent more from falling victims.
